Cancer patients reel 'em in at Chemo Kids Fish Off

ARANSAS PASS - Thirty seven Driscoll Children's Hospital cancer and blood disorders patients spent their morning on the water as part of the annual Chemo Kids Fish Off excursion on June 10 at Hampton's Landing Marina.

The children rode in boats driven by Coastal Bend Guides Association's fishing guides, who donated their time. After the fishing, the fish were weighed and measured and the patients were given trophies in various categories and treated to lunch.

The Chemo Kids Fish Off is in its 23rd year and gives the patients a fun day away from the hospital and treatments.

"We had fun," said 7-year-old Keiana Vardon. "I fished, and I pulled grass out of the water. I want to come back."
