  • Two Bell 407 medically configured helicopters
  • Four Driscoll Children's Hospital ambulances

Our Team

Driscoll's Commitment to the children of South Texas, no matter the distance, is reflected in our continued presence at our satellite clinic in Brownsville. A team is fully staffed by an RN, RT, and EMT-Paramedic remains on standby at the Brownsville Satellite Station so the waiting time to bring Driscoll Children's Hospital care to the patient's bedside is shortened. Several transports into Mexico and throughout the continental United States have been successfully completed.
Transport teams consist of:
  • Registered Nurses
  • Registered Respiratory Therapists
  • Paramedics

Transport team configurations are customized to fit the appropriate level of treatment for every patient. We are committed to providing the highest standard of care to your child and will treat them as our own. As parents, aunts & uncles, we realize how special your child is.

Equipment

Driscoll Children's Hospital's transport teams are equipped with specialized neonatal and pediatric equipment:
  • High frequency neonatal ventilator
  • Nitric Oxide
  • Pacing

KIDS Hotline

For providers needing quick, easy access to neonatal and pediatric intensivists use our (800) 879-KIDS (5437) hotline.
One telephone call to our KIDS hotline puts the caller in direct contact with a communications specialist who will immediately mobilize the transport team.

During the transport process, our team members are in constant contact with Driscoll Children's Hospital intensivists via telephone and 2-way radio communications. Advanced communication equipment and availability of the transport intensivist allows our transport team to provide intensive care unit level patient care throughout the entire transport.

Safety

By following industry established weather minimums for both ground and air transports, we maintain our commitment to the safety of our children. All rotor wings take place with Night Vision Goggles and Terrain Awareness and Warning System. All of our ambulance drivers re-certify Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) annually.
