Annual NICU Reunion was a fall festival to remember

A dragon, ladybug, witches, Superman and Darth Vader were some of the Halloween costumes worn by children who attended Driscoll Children's Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Reunion on Oct. 15. For this annual event, children from all over South Texas who have been treated in the NICU come to the hospital to visit with the physicians, nurses and other specialists who took care of them. Many of them were born as fragile preemies.

Besides visiting with their caregivers, guests were treated to pizza, apples, cotton candy and other goodies. There were moon bounces, mini-pumpkin designing, face-painting, games and prizes of all sorts. And since the NICU Reunion had a fall festival theme, families were invited to have their photos taken among hay-bales and scarecrows. By the end of the day, a good time was had by all.
