Family Advisory Board

The Board identifies goals that will improve the overall hospital and accomplishes those goals by a collaborated effort linking families, hospital staff and our community. The Board addresses any issues identified as potential improvements for Driscoll Children's Hospital.

Who's on the board?

  • Parents that include those that have been primary caregivers to a child who is or has been cared for at Driscoll Children's Hospital.
  • Hospital staff that includes the director of Patient and Family Services, Patient Relation representatives, Child Life specialist, volunteers, and other key staff members.

Members must:

  • have had a child who received services at Driscoll Children's Hospital
  • have the ability to support the mission of the hospital
  • represent the views of other families

How do I join?

Complete the FAB Membership Application or contact our Patient Relations Office at (361) 694-4035.

How long are terms on the board?

Terms of office are for one year with the opportunity to renew for two additional years.

When are meetings held?

The Family Advisory Board meets on the second Wednesday of every month during lunch time. Members of the board must attend 7-12 meetings per year in order to keep active membership status.

Can one still provide feedback without joining the Family Advisory Board

Absolutely! Some families are only available on a short-term basis, yet still have much to offer. Their services might be utilized on a hospital unit committee or for a particular project. Parents with children experiencing long hospitalizations often have valuable feedback to offer the hospital.
