Here’s to Promising Futures
The Auxiliary to Driscoll Children's Hospital is so proud to offer scholarships to our patients and teen volunteers.
Marcia K. Wilcox Scholarship – Oncology Patients
In 1992, the Auxiliary to Driscoll Children’s Hospital formed the Marcia K. Wilcox Memorial Scholarship. As a volunteer, Marcia served the patients, their families, and the staff with dedication for almost 23 years until her death in March of 1990. Scholarships are awarded annually to former and/or current oncology patients of Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Donations, proceeds from the Auxiliary stores and proceeds from the Project Artwork cards help to fund the scholarship.
Dr. James A. Duff Scholarship – Cardiology Patients
In the spring of 2006, the Auxiliary to Driscoll Children’s Hospital established the Dr. James A. Duff “Have a Heart” Memorial Scholarship for cardiology patients. As a cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Duff served the patients, their families and the staff with dedication for almost 26 years. He was instrumental in creating the cardiology program at Driscoll in the late 1960s, and the scholarship was created to honor his memory. Scholarships are awarded annually to former and/or current cardiac patients of Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Donations, proceeds from Auxiliary stores and proceeds from the annual Book and Uniform Sale help to fund the scholarship.
Clara Spirit Scholarship – Teen Volunteers
The Auxiliary to Driscoll Children’s Hospital established the Clara Spirit Scholarship for teen volunteers. It is a one-time scholarship of $2,000. A VolunTEEN who is a graduating senior in high school with more than 300 volunteer hours, is in good standing and completed senior year second semester is eligible to apply. Donations and proceeds from the Auxiliary stores help to fund the scholarship.

- The deadline for all scholarship applications is April 15 of each year.

- Recipients of the Marcia K. Wilcox Memorial Scholarship and the Dr. James A. Duff “Have a Heart” Memorial Scholarship must send a copy of their transcript and a cover letter sharing details of each semester to the scholarship committee at the end of each semester. It is suggested that you do this as soon as you have your grades. School offices are closed for a time during the holidays, and waiting to send your information could delay the scholarship committee from receiving funds in a timely manner.
*To guarantee receipt of scholarship funds, transcripts must be received two weeks prior to the beginning of the semester.
- Thank you notes and any correspondence to the Auxiliary may be mailed to the address above.
