Derived from our core value that every child deserves access to quality medical care, our mission is to train pediatricians to provide expert care to the children of South Texas and other underserved communities, through excellence in clinical care, outreach and advocacy.

Aims

Our residency aims to prepare physicians who can:

Be prepared to serve children living in highly underserved areas with limited access to care—as astute clinicians through expertise in clinical care, education, and scholarship
Reduce disparities in healthcare - by providing equitable access through high value care and unequivocal outreach to those most in need
Be effective communicators and advocates for children in their communities- by participating in organized communities and legislative advocacy initiatives throughout residency
Be future community leaders who demonstrate resilience and embody academic excellence— in a nurturing, evidence-based training environment that encourages growth through structured evaluation and feedback
