Thrifting for a Good Cause

Since 1996, The Cottage Shop has served as an important retail space for the community, and a vital fundraising source for the hospital. Owned and operated by the Auxiliary to Driscoll Children’s Hospital, Corpus Christi, it began with 10 volunteers in a portable structure behind the Rehabilitation building. Today, the Cottage Shop has more than 20 volunteers in a 1,800-square-foot building purchased by the Auxiliary and donated to the hospital—offering more space to do more good.
Not only has the Cottage Shop raised more than $1 million for the Auxiliary, it has also partnered with Driscoll’s Social Work Department to provide thousands of items at no cost to patients and families in need at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, Corpus Christi.
Along with invaluable items donated by the community, many local merchants contribute regularly, providing a nice selection of new items and “nearly-new” items.
