Driscoll Electric Parade Brings Holiday Magic to Children and Families

Driscoll Children’s Hospital Rio Grande Valley, in partnership with the City of McAllen, Driscoll Health Plan, and community supporters, brought holiday cheer directly to patients and families on Monday evening with the return of the Driscoll Electric Parade.

For the second year in a row, the illuminated parade traveled through the hospital campus on December 15, allowing children receiving care during the holiday season to enjoy the festivities from designated viewing areas. The event featured more than 20 illuminated floats, balloons, and performance groups, filling the campus with music, lights, and holiday excitement.

Sames Auto Group served as a key event sponsor, providing financial support for patient-centered holiday experiences and participating in the parade with a fleet of illuminated vehicles during the procession.

“This parade is about bringing joy directly to our patients and reminding them that they are surrounded by a community that cares deeply for them,” said Matt Wolthoff, president of Driscoll Children’s Hospital Rio Grande Valley. “Seeing our campus come alive with lights, music, and community partners working together reflects the spirit of the season and the mission of Driscoll.”

“It’s incredibly meaningful to see our community come together for children who are spending the holidays in the hospital,” said Ivan Quinonez, general manager at Sames McAllen Ford and Lincoln. “Being part of a moment that brings love and joy to families during this season is exactly what our partnership with Driscoll is all about.”

The Driscoll Electric Parade builds on last year’s successful debut and reflects Driscoll Children’s Hospital’s ongoing commitment to supporting the emotional and physical well-being of patients and families during the holiday season.
