Welcome

Thank you for your interest in Driscoll Children's Hospital Residency Program.

At Driscoll Children’s Hospital, residents learn from a patient population of substantial volume with an abundance of diverse and unusual pathology. Combine that with our strong focus on academics and evidence-based medicine, underpinned by a warm and inviting culture, and you’ll see why our program is truly one of a kind.

We are fortunate to have friendly and dedicated hospital staff and teaching faculty who participate in our resident’s educational experiences. We are also privileged to have a diverse, multicultural team of residents from around the world. I am proud to lead this team and am amazed every day at their dedication and hard work.

Our program makes every effort to utilize the capabilities of each resident, both in clinical work as well as program administration and hospital partnership. We are team-oriented in our residency advocacy, quality improvement, and research efforts. We are also team-driven in improving our program to provide the best educational experience possible.

Whether it’s learning through didactics or hands-on patient care, our mission is to advocate for our residents’ growth as pediatricians. Our structured curriculum includes over 10 hours weekly of protected didactic time, with an emphasis on a strong foundation in general pediatrics. We work to ensure our residents are both prepared for pediatric boards and have the right exposure to pursue fellowships in subspecialties if desired.

We know pediatric residency is challenging—but our team here also feels that the experience should be enjoyable. I encourage you to explore further, reach out to current and former residents or learn more about residency life here at Driscoll.

Sincerely,
Mary Huckabee, MD
Director of Medical Education
